Porcelain Crowns Questions

Serving Phoenix, Mesa, Tempe and Scottsdale, Arizona

Phoenix Porcelain Crowns What is a crown?

A porcelain crown replaces the outside of your tooth, covering the tooth entirely. The inside of your natural tooth is protected and preserved.

What does a crown look like?

It will look just like your natural tooth in shape and color.

Why use porcelain?

Porcelain is strong and beautiful. It reflects light in the same way as tooth enamel, so it looks like the real thing.

Gold is very visible, even in the back of your mouth.

Porcelain and other tooth-colored materials fused to metal will be the same color as your tooth, but:

  • They don’t reflect light in the same way, so they don’t look real and alive
  • Over time they develop a dark line near the gum line

Will my crown eventually come loose or pop off?

No. This was a common problem in the past, but our state-of-the-art technology and Dr. LeSueur’s and Dr. Dodaro’s LVI training allow us to craft a porcelain crown which is precisely fitted to your tooth, so it will be properly seated and stay firmly in place.

Will my crown become stained if I drink coffee or smoke?

No. Porcelain is very resistant to staining. Coffee, tea, wine, and even smoking will not stain your crown.

Can I get my crown in one office visit?

No. Your porcelain crown will be made in a lab. It will require two office visits – one to prepare and measure your tooth, and one to place your custom crafted crown. You will wear a temporary crown to protect your tooth in between visits.

Dr. LeSueur and Dr. Dodaro, serving Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, and other East Valley Cities in Arizona, combine LVI training and state-of-the-art technology to bring you, and your entire family, the very best and healthiest cosmetic dentistry solutions.
