Sedation Dentistry for Children
SERVING MESA, PHOENIX, Gilbert, TEMPE AND SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA
Just like adults, children can experience anxiety and nervousness when visiting the dentist. Just like adults, children may require longer procedures that, even when not accompanied by anxiety can result in jaw pain or general restlessness. To address these issues and help ensure your children remain comfortable and relaxed during their visits, Mesa pediatric dentists Dr. Scott LeSueur and Dr. Charles Dodaro are pleased to offer the option of nitrous sedation for children.
A Safe and Comfortable Dental Experience
Our family dentists are committed to providing a safe and comfortable dental experience for your children and take great care to make our office both inviting and enjoyable for even the youngest of our patients. Our family-oriented staff provide education and instruction to instill confidence and self-reliance, and we offer fun rewards and giveaways with each appointment to help encourage a healthy attitude toward dental care. These steps also help combat dental phobia, greatly reducing the need for sedation.
When sedation is necessary, nitrous oxide offers the safest, most reliable, and least invasive option for children. There are no long-term risks associated with the use of nitrous oxide and, in its centuries of use, only minor reactions have been recorded. Nausea and temporary confusion are the most common side-effects, but these are short lived and should not produce lasting issues.
What’s Best for Your Child
We offer nitrous oxide for children, but do not encourage or suggest it in every case. If we believe sedation is in the best interest of your child we will discuss this option along with all benefits and potential side-effects in greater detail to help ensure we are making decisions that you feel will suit the needs of your child.
