What can be done about crooked teeth?

If you have a crooked tooth, or even several crooked teeth, the team at Drs of Smiles Gentle Family Dentistry can help. There are a few different approaches our dental team might take in addressing a crooked tooth or a completely misaligned smile. Below are three common solutions that might be recommended by our team of professionals:

  • Dental bonding – in some instances, a crooked tooth can be addressed using composite resin bonding. Composite resin bonding is a material often used to repair chipped or cracked teeth, and the same material is used by our dentists for fillings when cavities occur. Dental bonding can be applied to the natural tooth with precision to reshape a tooth and disguise imperfections.
  • Porcelain veneers – another option for a tooth near the front of the mouth is the use of a porcelain veneer. Porcelain veneers are thin ceramic facings that are used to cover imperfections of the anterior teeth. They are custom-made to match the patient’s existing teeth and are bonded on top to create a new smile!
  • Invisalign – for those with several crooked teeth within the smile, as well as other issues such as gaps and poor bite alignment, Invisalign orthodontics might be the right choice! Invisalign is different than traditional braces as it eliminates the use of metal brackets and wires typically used. Instead, Invisalign uses plastic aligner trays that are clear in appearance. Patients wear the trays for 20 hours a day to gently reposition their teeth over several months. Invisalign is best for patients with mild to moderate misalignment of the teeth, and continues to be a popular alternative to conventional orthodontics.
