What are Porcelain Veneers?

An increasingly popular choice that deals with various cosmetic dentistry issues is porcelain veneers. They can be used for a variety of purposes, many of which could previously only be dealt with by using much more invasive procedures.
Porcelain veneers are easily applied, and require minimal alteration of the tooth. Many times only a small amount of surface enamel is removed.
While porcelain veneers are extremely thin – about as thick as your fingernail – when they are bonded to your teeth they become very strong. In addition, the porcelain has a translucent quality that makes it look more like the natural enamel of your teeth. Traditional porcelain crowns and other cosmetic alternatives are generally opaque, making them look artificial. Porcelain veneers are carefully color-matched and custom-made to fit your mouth and give you exactly the look you want.
Because of their strength, ease of application, and natural looks, porcelain veneers are used to help correct discolored, cracked, chipped, or slightly uneven teeth. They can even correct minor gaps between teeth, giving you a beautiful, perfect smile.
